International Textile Conference
For the first time, this year‘s conference program is divided into three parallel sections. The two-day “Chemistry” section will foreground chemical aspects of fibre composite materials, textile membranes and protective textiles. Recent non-woven fabric developments, textile reinforcement structures, the production of components and the recycling of fibre-reinforced composites as well as the modeling and simulation processes required for all processing steps will be the subject of the two-day “Composite” section.
As is traditional at the Dresden conference venue, the second day of the event will be devoted to recent product developments for personals and technical protection applications and examples of textile architecture usages by means of textile membranes.
The first conference day will witness the premiere of the third parallel section, the IGF-ZIM transfer event “From Idea to Practice”, organized by the Forschungskuratorium Textil e.V. Participants will be introduced to a selection of successful examples of products and methods developed in joint effort by researchers and industry representatives and implemented by the industry.
With this year‘s partner country Japan, we continue our tradition of offering you a platform for new research co-operations and networks beyond Germany by involving annually alternating partner countries.
Topics:
- Chemistry for Composites, Membranes, and Protective Textiles
- Composites
- Membranes & Textile Construction
- Protective Textiles

TensiNet symposium 2013
[RE]THINKING lightweight structures
A three-day symposium where the Plenary sessions will refer on the one hand to the Tensinet Working groups with [RE]THINKING Analysis & Materials (Peter Gosling); ETFE (Rogier Houtman); PNEUMATIC STRUCTURES (Matthew Birchall) and [CLOSING THE LOOP] Life Cycle Assessment for Membrane Materials and Structures (Jan Cremers). On the other hand interesting projects will be presented.
Prominent experts in the membrane architecture and engineering world will introduce each plenary session.

Essener Membranbau Symposium 2012
The Essen Laboratory for Lightweight Structures (ELLF) and the Institute for Metal and Lightweight Structures of the University of Duisburg-Essen will together present the Essener Membranbau Symposium 2012 on Friday, 28th September 2012.
The Symposium’s aim is the exchange of experts from research, design and erection. The presentations deal with current questions of particular relevance in the field of membrane structures:
Previous developments and current trends, ETFE foil structures, specification of mechanical properties of fabrics, formfinding, simulation and cutting patterns, membrane specific transport and erection, “Forensic Engineering” for damaged membrane structures and new fields of application for membranes.
Proceedings will be available on paper.
At the end of the day a visitation of the ELLF is planned, with further opportunity for professional and personal exchange.
The symposium’s language will be German.
