Exhibition Mamoru Kawaguchi - Structural Engineer: Innovation and Tradition in Structural Design
From Tuesday 29 September 2009 -  09:00am
To Tuesday 17 November 2009 - 06:00pm

The Exhibition is organised by the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia and supported by the IASS (International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures) and the company "CMD Ingenieros SL". It will be held in the UPV Exhibition Centre (Sala de Exposiciones, Edifici Rectorat 3A) from 29th September until 17th November 2009 and is entitled "Mamoru Kawaguchi - Structural Engineer. Innovation and tradition in structural projects".

The exhibition shows a sample of the works by Mamoro Kawaguchi, one of the most exceptional characters in the world of structural projects. Kawaguchi has a PhD in Structural Engineering and an Honorary Degree from Stuttgart University (Germany). He is the author of structural projects for works such as the Yoyogi Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, the Sant Jordi Palace and Tianjin museum, among others, and he also invented the Pantadome system.

The Exhibition contains thirty work models constructed by the engineer, as well as explanatory texts and graphic material showing the structural systems, constructive procedures and conception tools used in his many projects.

This event is parallel to the 50th Anniversary Symposium of the International Association for Shell and Spacial Structures (IASS), which will take place during the last week of September at the UPV.
